Delray Beach residents will get to review a proposed re-design of Atlantic Crossing at 5 p.m. on June 16 in the chambers of the Delray Beach City Commission. Residents have been protesting the loss of a road that was supposed to be in the developer’s original site plan. The road is deemed essential to offset the glut of increased traffic that the mixed use development will bring to the city’s main east-west artery: Atlantic Avenue.

“We consider this a victory for common sense, sound decision making and pubic involvement,” say the leaders of the Florida Coalition for Preservation.

The original re-design review was scheduled for June 2 but was postpoined to June 16.

“We believe that the developer needs more time to clarify improvements in traffic circulation that are the very basis for revising the site plan. If so, a two-week delay in presenting the new design to the Commission and public is well worth the wait,” said Coalition leaders.

The revisions had not yet been submitted to the Planning and Zoning Department.
