The Boca Del Mar Improvement Association (BDMIA) Board is meeting tonight (Wednesday, August 12).

An update on the community’s former Mizner Trail golf course is on the  agenda.

The recent news that Mizner Trail is being advertised for sale and resident complaints about the maintenance of the former Mizner Trail course will certainly be discussed.

Mizner Trail maintenance complaints were the subject of a Sun-Sentinel article this week.

County commissioner Steve Abrams told the Sentinel that the course’s ragged appearance is  “out of our control . . . it’s not just going to get completely cleaned up until the construction begins.”

Abrams’ response prompted William Vale, a Boca Del Mar board member, to write to the Sun-Sentinel:

County Can Do Whatever it Wants
“To read county Commissioner Steve Abrams and code enforcement director Ramsey Bulkeley say they are powerless when it comes  to requiring maintenance on the closed Mizner Trail Gold Course is laughable!

It’s also a slap in the face to the nearly 10,000 tax paying residents of Boca Del Mar.

If the county can amend Boca Del Mar’s 43-year old-master plan and grant development rights where none existed, I’m sure they could simply Amend the Code Requirement and require Mizner’s owners to follow the same standards the rest of us do. What say you Commissioner Abrams?”
