Parks District Commissioners Announce Support for Boca to Buy Course for Public Use, But Hurdles Remain.

All commissioners of the Greater Boca Raton Beach & Parks District announced their support this week for Boca Raton’s purchase of the Ocean Breeze golf course for the public in cooperation with the District. They will address the issue at their next meeting. The path to purchase still has some legal and bureaucratic hurdles.  Meanwhile, Wells Fargo’s scheduled shutdown of the golf course on July 1 still looms, to the displeasure of Boca Teeca residents and course users.

Per BocaWatch reports, residents may communicate their complaints to Wells Fargo over the July 1 shutdown by sending emails to the Wells Fargo chairman – [email protected] with a cc to the Wells Fargo VP responsible for the decision to close the course- [email protected]

The Parks District support was announced this week at its June 20 meeting. The purchase faces a series of hurdles, however, since the golf course property is owned by Wells Fargo bank through a foreclosure process and the bank has a contingent contract with Lennar homebuilders. The District and the city would also have to negotiate and there have been some bumps in that relationship in the past.

The Ocean Breeze golf course property in Boca Teeca is north of Yamato Rd between NE 2nd Ave and I-95.
