A united-pbc postOn August 30, the primaries are OUR CHANCE to SAY ENOUGH!!!

The developer cartel of mostly five out of the seven county commissioners and developer-cozy municipalities have already bulldozed over the objections of voters and their pleas to protect quality of life. An eye-popping 16 major developments are already re-making Palm Beach County.  The right choices in the upcoming August 30 primary and November 8 general election will help protect what’s left and set correction courses for responsible policies going forward.

Here are some of the candidates that line up with your values for integrity and progressive policies.

  • Dorothy-Jacks-for-Property-AppraiserEvery registered voter in Palm Beach County can vote for Dorothy Jacks for Property Appraiser. Dorothy is extremely well respected and experienced. She is a Certified Florida Evaluator and an Assessment Administration Specialist with 27 years of appraisal and assessment administration. She has been instrumental in making Voting for Dorothy Jacks supports the most qualified Appraiser

Voting for Dorothy Jacks is ALSO your chance to show Shelley Vana that there are consequences for dismissing the interests of residents – especially Boca Del Mar residents. Vana, the current District 3 commissioner, dismissed homeowners pleading to keep their community green space and recreational space zoned Agricultural Residential. Instead, Shelley Vana did the developer a big favor by voting to re-zone the property, making the developers’ property value zoom to $38million overnight and de-valuing the property of residents living on the course. Now that she is termed out, Vana, a career politician, has her greedy eyes on the property appraiser’s job. Voting Shelley Vana for appraiser is like putting the fox inside the hen house. Shelley Vana voted consistently with big development special interests over residents’ objections. See the inside Appraiser election story in The Palm Beach Post.

  • Tony-Bennett-District3 If you live in District 1, on August 30 please vote for Tony Bennett
Tony is an attorney opposing commissioner Hal Valeche. Tony Bennett’s position on the Ag Reserve is to “honor what was voted for.” Protection of green space particularly to keep Palm Beach County attractive to tourists and local businesses depending on tourism is a priority for Tony Bennett. On the contrary Valeche has overwhelmingly supported GL Home developments in the western end of the county.  Supporting a range of houses priced at $600,000 to over $1 million, these developments cut up the Ag Reserve and have stolen a a rural lifestyle prized by so many families seeking affordable homes and green spaces in which to raise children.
