On August 1, the Boca Del Mar Improvement Association (BDMIA) moved to appeal the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) decision to alter the community’s Master Plan over the wishes of residents and allow housing development on land designated for recreational golf and green space for the community.

On June 26, the county commissioners voted 5 to 2 in favor of the developers, Mizner Trail Golf Club Ltd., to a packed hearing room in which the homeowners eloquently protested one after the other against the development, as they have for the past nine years.

The application would put up 253 housing units, many of them zero lot lines and condominium units, to fill the narrow fairways of the former Mizner Trail Golf course that wind through the community’s neighborhoods.

The legal appeal is expected to take 6 to 8 months.

The Mizner Trail former golf course south of Camino Real in Boca Del Mar is in District 4, represented by Steve Abrams.
