Palm Beach County  commissioners approved zoning needed for a proposed rental complex, Stonybrook on the Lake, to replace a plant nursery, Delray Plants Inc., on 31 acres of land.  The rental development was proposed by Manetto Hill Realty Venture LLC.

The plan calls for 2- and 3-story buildings with a total of 346 apartments,  83 of them workforce housing units with reduced rents — surrounding  a man-made lake. The land is located south of Lake Ida Road between Sims Road and Via Flora.

Neighboring residents had objected earlier, according to the Sun-Sentinel, but developer concessions on buffers, saving more trees and other details “made it easier” for the commissioners to approve the zoning change. The Alliance of Delray Residential Associations supported the compromise Stonybrook proposal, according to the Sentinel article.

The property is located in District 5, represented by Commissioner Mary Lou Berger.
